About the Assignment

Gasification is a key technology for the development of advanced sustainable fuels and materials, such as Methanol, methane, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), plastics or Hydrogen. This technology will become increasingly important during the following years as the demand for sustainable synthetic fuels and materials will increase, in line with the needs for the sustainable energy transition.

HoSt’s vision for this technology is a middle-scale solution (from 5 up to 15 MWth), suitable for the distributed fuel production from biomass sources. HoSt is always on the look for suitable candidates that are interested in participating in the development of this technology.

We welcome motivated students eager to contribute to this technology.

Who Are You?

You are an HBO or MSc student in your final year, studying Industrial Engineering & Management, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Automation & Control Systems. You are passionate about sustainable energy, eager to learn about gasification, and work independently with a structured approach.

Your skills:

  • MSc student in Chemical Engineering;

  • Interested in sustainable energy technology;

  • You want to learn more about the gasification technology and electrolyser;

  • Plan-minded and independent worker;

  • Able to read German and translate to English.

What You Will Work On

The gasifier will be integrated with an second hand electrolyser (Solid oxide). The hydrogen will be injected in the methanisation reactor, The oxygen could be used in the gasifier. The electrolyser counts with its own boiler to produce steam for electrolysis.

The goal of the internship is to produce the documents for the integration of the electrolyser.

Your task:

  • Understand the boundary conditions of HoSt gasification solution;

  • Study the electrolyser process with all components (P&ID’s, process prescription, manual);

  • Translating main documents from German to English;

  • Specify what is need for the integration the electrolyser with the gasification and methanizatrion process.

What We Offer

  • Working at the technology forefront of the energy transition;

  • Groundbreaking tech company in the field of biofuels, carbon capture and thermal conversion;

  • Minimum wage based on 40 hours per week for interns with an EU working licence or a monthly fixed fee of €500 based on 40 hours per week depending on the internship;

  • Lots of responsibility and room for own initiatives;

  • Professional support, guidance and insights;

  • Interesting international environment only a 5-minute walk from the ‘Kennispark’ train station in Enschede;

  • Nice and sustainable welcome gift;

  • A dynamic, energetic, passionate young team;

  • Flexibility in working from home / office.
