Kaspars did not start his career in renewable energy. He began as a car mechanic before joining the Latvian Caterpillar dealer, where he spent more than a decade working as a service engineer and later as a service manager. “I worked with power generation equipment, service contracts and maintenance planning. Over the years, I gained a lot of practical experience in troubleshooting and keeping installations running.”

Meet Kaspars Lāmanis-Jēgersons, our Commissioning Engineer
For Kaspars Lāmanis-Jēgersons, no two workdays are the same. As a Senior Commissioning Engineer within Bright Renewables in HoSt Group's office in Latvia, he spends most of his time travelling across Europe, commissioning biogas upgrading and CO₂ liquefaction systems and making sure they perform exactly as intended.
“I like challenges”, he says. “I enjoy solving problems that are not easy to solve. That is what makes the work interesting. Every project is different, and every site brings something new.” Based in Latvia, Kaspars has been part of HoSt Group for more than six years. During that time, he has seen both the Latvian office and the company as a whole grow rapidly.
When ownership changes altered the direction of the company, Kaspars started looking around. HoSt Group immediately caught his attention. “The role matched my background and the type of work I enjoyed doing. It felt familiar, but it also offered new challenges and opportunities to grow.”
Growing together with the Latvian team
When Kaspars joined HoSt Group, the Latvian office was still relatively small. Today, the team has grown significantly and supports a wide range of activities across the organization. “When I started, there were only a handful of people. Now we are around twenty-five. It has been interesting to see that growth happen.”
Although he is based in Latvia, most of his work takes place abroad. “I travel throughout Europe, just like many of the Dutch commissioning engineers. Most of my time is spent on project sites rather than in the office.”
Taking responsibility from day one
One project still stands out when Kaspars looks back on his career. Shortly after joining HoSt Group, he was sent to Finland to help solve issues on several biogas upgrading projects and learn the technology in practice. After a few trips, he received responsibility for his first project in Slovakia. “I had only limited experience with the technology at that point. The training programs we have today did not exist yet, so I learned a lot by doing.”
The project turned out to be a success. “The installation ran for months without any interruptions. I remember colleagues from the Netherlands calling to ask what I had done. For me, that was a proud moment because I proved to myself that I could make it work.”
Why commissioning never gets boring
For a short period, Kaspars was unable to travel after breaking his leg and spent more time working from the office. That experience confirmed something he already suspected. “I realized very quickly that a desk job is not for me. I like being in the field, where you can see the results of your own work.”
According to him, commissioning brings a level of ownership that is difficult to find elsewhere. “When you are on site, the result depends largely on you. If you solve the problem, the project moves forward. If you do not, it does not. I like that responsibility.”
A culture that puts people first
What Kaspars values most about HoSt Group is the way employees are treated. “The company genuinely cares about people. That is something you do not find everywhere.” He also appreciates the willingness of colleagues to support one another. “Everyone is busy, but if you need help and reach out to someone, people will usually make time for you. That is true in Latvia and in the Netherlands.”
Over the years, he has also become more connected to colleagues in Enschede. Quarterly service days bring commissioning engineers and field supervisors together to exchange knowledge, improve processes and strengthen collaboration.
Happy where he is
When asked why he has stayed with HoSt Group for more than six years, Kaspars keeps his answer simple. “I enjoy what I do. I enjoy the challenges, the responsibility and the variety. Every project teaches you something new.” For someone who thrives on solving technical problems and seeing tangible results in the field, that combination remains the biggest motivation of all.
