The story of Danny Husband

Meet Danny Husband, our Operations Manager for biogas plants in Europe.

After more than twenty years in the biogas industry, Danny Husband made a deliberate decision to take the next step in his career. Proactively reaching out to HoSt Group, he initiated a conversation that quickly developed into a new opportunity. Over the past year, Danny has been operating as Operations Manager within the biogas unit at HoSt Group, with responsibility for project execution, site operations, health and safety, and innovation.

A multifaceted role

In his role as Operations Manager, Danny oversees the delivery of large-scale biogas installations on site. “I am responsible for ensuring that construction activities are executed in line with programme, meet the required quality standards, and fully comply with all health and safety regulations.” In addition to operational delivery, Danny has played a key role in strengthening the organisation’s health and safety framework. “Upon joining, I identified opportunities to further develop our health and safety approach. I led the development of a comprehensive system covering site inductions, certification management, risk assessments, fire safety planning, and emergency response procedures.” Danny also works closely with the QHSE function and leads R&D initiatives within the biogas unit. “Our R&D focus is on evaluating and implementing new technologies that have not yet been applied within HoSt Group. Alongside this, I support the commercial team by translating technical solutions into clear value propositions for our clients.”

“I had spent many years working for another technology provider within the biogas sector. At a certain point, I felt ready for a new challenge. I contacted the CEO via LinkedIn, and from the outset the conversation gained momentum. It immediately felt like the right move.”

Empowered to build and improve

A defining aspect of Danny’s experience at HoSt Group has been the level of trust and autonomy provided from day one. “I have a strong background in health and safety, and I was given the freedom to apply that expertise. That level of trust is critical. It enables you to genuinely build and improve systems.” He highlights the strength of combining established expertise with fresh perspectives. “HoSt Group brings decades of experience in delivering biogas installations. When that is combined with new ideas and approaches, it creates a strong platform for continuous improvement.”

Delivering on an international stage

Danny is actively involved in major international projects, including the delivery of two large-scale biogas facilities in Spain. “These are among the largest projects ever delivered by HoSt Group. They carry significant visibility and demonstrate the capability of the organisation on a global scale.” Drawing on his extensive industry experience, Danny recognises the company’s strong market position. “Having worked across the sector for many years alongside leading organisations, I can confidently say that the combination of technical expertise, innovation, and ambition at HoSt Group is exceptional.”

A high-performing, collaborative team

Danny quickly integrated into the biogas unit’s management team, describing it as highly capable and collaborative. “In a relatively short period, we have established a strong and well-balanced team. Each individual brings specialist expertise, and importantly, there are no gaps in knowledge. Even with my experience, I continue to learn from those around me.” He notes that this collaborative and open mindset is a defining characteristic of the organisation.

A culture of openness and growth

“What stands out at HoSt Group is the willingness to learn. In some organisations, experience can be perceived as a threat, here, it is embraced. People are open, inquisitive, and committed to continuous development.”

Danny describes the culture as a blend of youthful energy and professional maturity. “It is a relatively young organisation, but highly professional. We are scaling rapidly, with a clear focus on increasing standardisation while maintaining flexibility.”

Driving meaningful impact

For Danny, the greatest motivation comes from the tangible impact of his work. “Ultimately, our work contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions, minimising waste, and producing renewable energy. That gives a strong sense of purpose.” He sees biogas as a key component of the wider energy transition. “While society remains reliant on fossil fuels, biogas provides a sustainable and scalable alternative, helping to reduce that dependency.”

A decision without regret

Joining HoSt Group represented an important career decision, one that Danny reflects on positively. “I made this move based on trust and instinct, and I have no regrets whatsoever.” His message to others considering a similar step is clear: “If someone with my level of experience can make this transition, others can too. HoSt Group is an environment where you can make a meaningful contribution while continuing to grow professionally.”
