To support our expanding portfolio of international biogas and CO2 recovery projects, we are looking for a Refrigeration Engineer (CO2 Systems) ideally with experience in CO2 cooling systems for industrial applications.

You'll join a dynamic team working on the design and implementation of renewable and circular energy systems across Europe and beyond.

Your position as a Refrigeration Engineer (CO2 Systems)

You will be joining the Project Engineering team in Enschede, working on-site from the office. You will be the only specialist in refrigeration (CO₂ systems) within the team, giving you both responsibility on technical direction and product development.

You will collaborate closely with Product Development, and Site Support teams and you’ll report directly to Team Lead Project Engineering.

You become part of a 10-person multidisciplinary team, where collaboration and technical excellence are key.

Your responsibilities

  • Design and engineer CO2 refrigeration and heat pump systems for biogas and carbon capture installations;

  • Perform calculations for cooling loads and process requirements;

  • Develop technical project documentation (P&IDs, equipment specifications, layouts, scopes of work, etc.);

  • Select and integrate system components for both new and existing installations;

  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality, delivery, and compliance;

  • Support commissioning teams during project execution and system start-up;

  • Contribute to innovation and technical improvements within our refrigeration solutions;

Vereisten

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar);

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in refrigeration, ideally with CO₂ systems;

  • Familiarity with industrial process environments (e.g., food, waste-to-energy, biogas);

  • Experience with cooling systems, P&IDs, and energy-efficient system design;

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, service, and project management teams;

  • Fluent in English;
