Within our Own to Operate business unit, HoSt develops, owns and operates its own renewable energy facilities. In Latvia, we are developing a portfolio of biomethane plants that will process agricultural feedstocks, manure and other suitable organic materials into renewable biomethane and valuable organic fertilizers.

As our activities in Latvia grow, securing a reliable, cost-effective and sustainable feedstock supply is essential to the successful operation of our plants.

HoSt Latvia is looking for a Feedstock Manager who will take ownership of feedstock sourcing, contracting, logistics and quality management for our Latvian biomethane plants.

The function

As Feedstock Manager Latvia, you will be responsible for ensuring that HoSt's biomethane plants in Latvia have the right feedstocks available in the required quantity, quality and at the right time.  

You will manage the feedstock chain from supplier to plant. This means developing relationships with farmers, agricultural companies, food producers and other potential suppliers, identifying new feedstock opportunities, negotiating commercial terms and coordinating the logistics required to deliver the materials to our facilities.

An important part of your role will be feedstock procurement and supplier relationship management. You will build long-term partnerships with local suppliers and maintain a strong understanding of feedstock availability, agricultural markets, seasonal developments and pricing.At the same time, you will stay closely connected to plant operations. Together with plant managers, operators and HoSt's technical specialists, you will monitor feedstock quality and plant requirements and adjust the feedstock mix where necessary. You understand that the cheapest feedstock is not necessarily the best feedstock: biological performance, methane yield, storage, transport, sustainability and operational reliability all matter.

Logistics will also be an important part of your work. You will coordinate deliveries with suppliers and transport companies, monitor feedstock inventories and storage capacities and ensure continuity of supply throughout the year.

Regular visits to suppliers, farms, storage locations and HoSt's biomethane plants throughout Latvia are an essential part of the role. This is therefore a hands-on position that combines commercial work, field activities and operational coordination, rather than being purely office-based procurement.

Looking beyond today's requirements is another key aspect of the role. You will continuously identify new feedstock opportunities, stay up to date with developments in the Latvian agricultural and organic waste markets, and help HoSt further develop its feedstock strategy as our Own to Operate portfolio in Latvia expands.

Your responsibilities further include:

• Sourcing agricultural and organic feedstocks, including manure, agricultural residues, energy crops, food-processing residues and other suitable organic materials;

• Managing feedstock supply agreements, including volumes, delivery conditions and other commercial terms;

• Planning feedstock flows based on seasonality, harvesting periods, storage capacity and plant consumption;

• Monitoring incoming feedstock quality and consistency, including coordinating sampling and laboratory analysis where required;

• Evaluating the technical suitability, methane potential, quality, availability, logistics and commercial attractiveness of new feedstocks;

• Working with plant operations and technical specialists to optimize feedstock use and support stable biological plant performance;

• Monitoring feedstock costs and contributing to budgets and forecasts;

• Maintaining accurate records of feedstock volumes, prices, suppliers, contracts, deliveries and quality parameters;

• Ensuring compliance with relevant sustainability, traceability and regulatory requirements, including supporting certification and sustainability documentation;

• Identifying commercial and operational opportunities and supporting the development of feedstock strategies for new HoSt Own to Operate biomethane projects in Latvia.

Who are you?

We are looking for a results-oriented, commercially minded and practical professional who enjoys working independently and building relationships in the agricultural sector.

You are comfortable sitting at the negotiation table with the management of an agricultural company in the morning and visiting a farm, storage facility or biomethane plant in the afternoon.

You understand that successful feedstock management requires more than purchasing material at the lowest possible price. You are able to balance price, quality, methane potential, logistics, availability, sustainability and security of supply. Building long-term relationships comes naturally, and taking ownership of a supply chain in a growing organization is something you are comfortable with.

In addition, you have:

• Higher education or equivalent working and thinking level, preferably in agriculture, agribusiness, logistics, engineering, environmental sciences, business or a related field;

• Experience in agriculture, agricultural commodities, biomass, biogas/biomethane, food processing, waste management, logistics or a comparable sector;

• Experience in procurement, sourcing, trading, supply chain management or another commercial/operational role;

• Good knowledge of the Latvian agricultural sector and preferably an existing network within the farming or agricultural business community;

• Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills, as well as ;

• The ability to establish and maintain long-term relationships with farmers, agricultural companies, transporters and other business partners;

• A commercial mindset with a practical understanding of logistics and operations, combined with the ability to assess feedstock opportunities from commercial, technical and logistical perspectives;A commercial mindset combined with a practical understanding of logistics and operations;

• The ability to analyse feedstock opportunities from commercial, technical and logistical perspectives;

• A structured and accurate way of working with contracts, quantities, prices, forecasts and documentation;

• An entrepreneurial attitude: you identify opportunities, take initiative and follow through;

• The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with local and international colleagues;

• Willingness to travel regularly within Latvia to suppliers, farms and HoSt's biomethane plants;

• A valid driving licence;

• Fluent Latvian and good command of English;

Experience specifically within the biogas or biomethane industry is an advantage, but not essential. A strong understanding of agriculture, feedstock sourcing and supplier relationships combined with the willingness to learn the technical aspects of biomethane production can be equally valuable.
