Your role as a Software Architect - Industrial Systems & Renewable Energy
As Software Architect, you will serve as the technical authority for software development within Bright Renewables. You will work closely with a team of seven software engineers, as well as process engineers and product managers, to ensure that our software solutions remain scalable, secure, maintainable, and future-proof.
Operating at the intersection of product development, engineering, and operational excellence, you will play a key role in the further professionalization of software within Bright Renewables. You will help define standards, best practices, and ways of working that support the company’s long-term growth and technology ambitions.
In this role, you will balance a long-term architectural vision with hands-on involvement in product development and complex customer projects. You will play a key role in defining software strategy, guiding technical decisions, and driving best practices across the organization.
You will report directly to the manager E&I and Software.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the software architecture across our products, platforms, and installations;
Establish software development standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices;
Drive software standardization, modularity, and reusability across products and projects;
Ensure seamless integration between software, PLC/automation, electrical engineering, and process technology;
Support engineering and project teams in solving complex technical challenges;
Translate product strategy into technical roadmaps and architectural decisions;
Strengthen cybersecurity and secure-by-design principles throughout our software landscape;
Define and improve testing, validation, software quality, and lifecycle management processes;
Coach and mentor software engineers while promoting knowledge sharing across teams;
Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
Vereisten
Our requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related field;
At least 8 years of experience in software development, including experience in a Software Architect, Lead Engineer, or similar senior technical role;
Experience with industrial software, automation systems, and OT/IT integration;
Knowledge of PLC environments and industrial automation platforms (Siemens S7 / TIA Portal is a strong advantage);
Strong understanding of software architecture, system integration, software lifecycle management, and design principles;
Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and secure software development practices;
Experience within industrial equipment, machinery, process technology, energy, or related engineering environments;
Strong communication skills and the ability to align technical decisions with business objectives;
A proactive mindset and passion for innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
