Designing a scalable planning framework for project transports

BSc / MSc in Industrial Engineering & Managementg

Project-related transport plays a critical role in delivering materials and components within our organization. At present, the process is not fully standardized, which can lead to inefficiencies, delays, and limited flexibility when using additional carriers. The objective of this assignment is to analyze, structure, and optimize the project-related transport process. The outcome should be a standardized and scalable process, including a planning template and a strategy for integrating an additional carrier.

Your tasks:

  • Main task one; Analysis of current project-related transport

o    Map all steps of the current transport process.

o    Identify missing steps or inefficiencies.

o    Document the process to support standardization efforts.

  • Main task two; Development of a planning template

    o    Create a user-friendly template for planning project-related transport.

o    Ensure the template captures all relevant information and steps, allowing different teams to use it consistently.

    o    Data collection and analysis

  • Main task three; Expansion to an additional carrier

o    Develop an implementation plan for involving an additional carrier.

o    Evaluate the impact on planning, costs, and process flow.

o    Implement the plan in collaboration with relevant teams.
