Advanced control for gas quality in biogas upgrading

Suitable for BSc or MSc in Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Sustainable Energy/ Computer Science

Bright Renewables biogas upgraders use closed loop control for gas quality, resulting in slow control or reaction to changes. Mapping of performance data or self learning algorithms may be useful in the operating control of the upgraders, allowing for smoother operation and faster reaction to process disturbances.


Your tasks:

  • Model creation or datamapping;
  • Simulation and evaluation of model(s);
  • Evaluation of implementation routes;
  • Implementation (if time allows).


Predicitive model for H2S breakthrough in Activated Carbon vessels

Suitable for BSc or MSc in Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Sustainable Energy/ Computer Science

H2S is removed from biogas using activated carbon, the adsorption process is well known and multiple models exist in literature. At Bright Services it’s important to use these models to accurately predict when a Carbon vessel will be saturated for timely exchange. Implementation and evaluation of these models will be the main objective.


Your tasks:

  • Data extraction and filtering;
  • Implementation and evaluation of model(s);
  • Optimization (training) of models;
  • Assesment of predicitve properties.
